Ma petite Coree

On May 1st we had an online meeting with Mr Arthur Mademba-Sy. He introduced his company "Ma petite Coree" (= my little Korea) and explained, how he began business in Korea with startups. Later he explained his "afterwork meetings".He also served as the former president of the CEFC (Cercle of Francophone Entrepreneurs in Korea).

Arthur Mademba-Sy, drawing from his experience in managing his own e- commerce business, visited Incheon University to inspire and provide practical advice for university students by sharing real-life experiences. He is 34 years old, born in Paris, he has lived in Korea for 12 years.
Initially coming to Korea as an exchange student through IPAG Business School and gaining experience through a six-month internship, he later returned to France but harbored a desire for Korea, eventually making his way back. In Korea, he worked in various fields, particularly focusing on French Language Education. Subsequently, he decided to start his own business.
His entrepreneurial journey faced hurdles from the outset. Despite encountering failures, he gleaned valuable lessons that would aid him in managing his own business. At first, launching a resume template business, followed by a T-shirts company and a pajama shop called 'Nos petits loups,' all met with failure. However, he tried again with the knowledge acquired from these experiences.
Ultimately, he launched <Ma petit Corée>, a company specializing in selling Korean products, from K-beauty to K-pop, along with snacks and cute socks, on a website and exporting these products to Europe, mainly France. Utilizing a simple strategy involving website platforms and loyalty programs, his business witnessed steady growth.
Expanding his reach to Southeast Asia, he identified Cambodia as a potential market. Despite the challenge posed by the lack of e-commerce adoption in Cambodia, his business became one of the largest cosmetic businesses in the country.
A year ago, he launched 'afterworkseoul,' which has seen increasing success due to its well-crafted business model.
Following his speech, a question-and-answer session ensued, covering topics such as international money flow, his teaching experience in Korea, internships, and visas.
The event provided an excellent opportunity for students at Incheon University, with Arthur offering valuable insights and practical advice to those interested in entrepreneurship or business management.
