On May 22th we visited IGUS company in Songdo.
It is in Songdo, a 3-minute walk from INU’s East Gate. IGUS produces various product but their important product is a ‘plastic chain, cables and bearing’. They are reasonable prices and high quality. That’s why they are called hidden champions.
They took us to the conference room. We listened to IGUS’s Products, Philosophy and played pasta games. We stacked pasta noodles to raise the marshmallow high. Unfortunately, our team came in second place. Then we asked some questions to the employees. They went to INU just like us. We asked ‘How did you get into the company?’, ‘What did you prepare for joining the company?’. They said the important thing is to set the direction of what you wanted to do. And one student asked a question about the marketing part. And they explained the difference between a foreign company and a Korean company. They said the biggest difference is freedom and welfare.
IGUS’s building is open. It shows the company’s vertical and open philosophy. and I saw employees working in comfortable clothes and environment. Additionally, the factory manager seemed to have a strong affection for the company. And we rode IGUS’s bicycle. The price of a bicycle is 1500$. It doesn’t require lubrication and is made of eco-friendly plastic. The bicycle was awesome but too expensive. After that, we got on a forklift. The forklift was like a roller coaster. It was fast and stable. The lift seemed to be able to keep things and employees safe.
I felt this company was attractive. In modern times, Company interests are important, but It is also important to care about the environment and the welfare of workers. They buy an iPhone and iPad to salesman. Isn’t it amazing? Finally, we took a commemorative photo and finished the tour.

On May 22nd we visited IGUS company in Songdo. IGUS is a company that mainly develops plastic chains and applies them to various businesses. First of all, we saw IGUS bicycles on the first floor of the company. It is a bike made of 100 percent plastic and does not require lubrication. And then, we arrived at the conference room and we listened to the company's slogan, purpose, values, and main products. What I remembered most was the difference between the systems of foreign companies and Korean companies. We thought that the characteristic of “all employees being managers” would have a positive impact on achieving company profits. And finally, we had time to see the actual factory and ride the IGUS bike. We also rode a forklift that is used in the factory. The company's structure was so unique, with all walls made of glass, which clearly reflected the company's values.
