Europe Trade Practice 2011 - University of Incheon

From April to the end of May 2011, on Wednesday afternoon, the University of Incheon organizes presentations with various representatives of the EU established in Korea. The purpose is to gather various expatriates to discover the potential of European companies and institutions, their presence here in Korea, and the good and bad of being a European in Korea.

Furthermore, our students are interested to learn what requirements and skills are needed by European companies to get an internship or a job.

Thus during three month, guided by motivated students, different companies and institutions are invited to visit us and briefly introduce themselves, respond to the students questions, and have an enjoyable experience presenting their homeland and their objectives in Asia.
The atmosphere of these presentations is meant to be very pleasant for all of us, and to celebrate your participation properly you are invited to enjoy a dinner afterwards at the University restaurant.

Our students are studying German or French and European Trade. English skills are required. Most of them are in the 3rd or 4th academic year.

In order to graduate, each group of students supervising one of the eight delegations will have to make a presentation and remarks on this website.

April 6th: pull-in (France)

On April 6th Mr. Christophe Muser visited our class and presented the French underwear-label "pull-in".

Pull-in underwear was born in 2000 out of Europe's surfing capital Hossegor. Renowned for creating underwear with a high-tech and uniquely fashion-forward influence. Pull in under ware is the brand for all age groups and it gives you the comfort. Pull-in developed a new concept in the underwear market, focusing on the style of skater pants, with a low waist,the surf and action-sports and many other products.

April 13th: C. Illies & Co

On 13th, April Mr. Michael Hennig, CEO of "C. Illies & Co." visited this class and presented the company.
Illies & Co. was founded on 1859 in Japan. About 450 employees are working for Illies & Co. Traditionally, this company focuses Trading, Industrial Equipment, Plant service. This company offers R&D business development, vacuum technology.
Seoul Branch was founded on 1957. Now Illies & Co. focuses on Green Energy.

April 20th: Ms. Eva John, French Journalist

European News & Media in Korea

Eva John comes from France. She is a freelance journalist. Now she works in Seoul for several media, Canada-radio, l’Express, KBS World, etc. As a journalist she writes articles, takes photos and works correspondent. Before she came to Korea she had interned at l’Express; famous French press. And she made a blog named ‘Generation 80’ in collaboration with her German friend Romy. Through this project she won the prize for French-German journalism in 2008. She explained what we have to do to be a journalist.

April 27th: Excursion to LSG Sky Chefs at Incheon Intl. Airport

On 23th April we visited a company building of LSG Sky Chefs (a maker of in-flight meals) at Incheon International Airport. In this building, there are not only office rooms but also a big food factory and a warehouse. A manager of LSG Sky Chefs took us on a factory tour and explained their logistics system. They are also supplying tax-free products for their customers. We could see how in-flight meals are cooked and packed. After the tour, Mr. Lycett (CEO of LSG Sky Chefs Korea) made a presentation about this company and how important intercultural relations in business.

May 4th: Heraeus (Germany)

Heraeus is a 150 years old German company which works in the fields of technology. Mr. David Lesens, who is French, gave us some informations and advices.

May 11th: DB Schenker (Germany)

On May 11th Mr. Reiner Kloberg from DB Schenker visited our class.

DB Schenker is a German company and was founded by Gottfried Schenker in 1872.

DB Schenker is one of the very big and famous logistic companies in the world. They deliver the products through the sky, sea, and land. This company is very global and also in Korea. DB Schenker Korea started here since 1977. DB Schenker Korea has 11 branches in Korea, and they are doing very actively at now.

May 18th: direct optic (France / Korea)

On May 18th Mr. Karim Khouider explained the internet business of his company "direct optic" between Korea and France.
Direct Optic is the French leading online optician, providing customers with the best ophtalmic products (eyeglasses frames and lenses) at a lower price than high street opticians. Direct Optic sells its product online (http://www.direct-optic.fr) and offline (Eco Optic shops).
